Salads No Good If Overdressed

You chose a salad instead of the cheeseburger for lunch. Great choice. Now all you have to do pick within in the salad bar right?

Wrong, just because the food items are a part of the salad bar doesn't mean they should be a part of your salad.

Smothered in ranched dressing, topped with croutons, and sprinkled with chopped meats, is when a salad losses its purpose.

Next time, try these tips for a nutritional salad

-Avoid ice burg lettuce, go for green, leafy lettuce. Ice burg lettuce has no nutritional value at all.

-Limit the amount of cheese you toss in. A great source of calcium and protein, but if too much, extra cheese can lead to extra calories

-Chopped meats are good if grilled, but most of the time they are processed. And anything processed or fried is bad

-Salad Dressing- If you can't see through it, dont bother eating it. Most dressings are mayonnaised-based. Enough said.
If you can't imagine the thought, try converting to low-fat dressings at least.
On another note, olive oil and vinegar can be used as a healthy dressing

I hope these tips help you reach your goal to healthier eating!
