Yummy Worms

Entomophagy is a fancy word for bug eating. Many countries and Americans eat creepy crawlers such scorpions, ants, and beetles.

At least 1,200 insects are eaten world wide.

Some are eaten raw, made into soups, grilled, and even fried.
Despite how you feel about insects they do have nutritional value. They are a good source of vitamins, iron and phosphorus.

Grasshoppers top the list being the most consumed insects. yum!

Check out some these insect cuisines:

Honeypot ants-eaten in Mexico as treat
Fried Winged Termites-termites are fried in their own fat and served. Eaten in Africa.
Water bugs- known to have a minty taste and used for flavoring.

Bug eating is more common than you think. There are actually a good number of restaurants in the U.S catered to serving bugs/insects only.

If you made it past the picture, you can glance at the diets of other cultures around world by checking out the link.

Ride It Out

Remember your first bicycle and how much you used to ride it?

That would explain all the energy you had as a little kid. Well, you can relive those moments and keep your body in shape at the same time.

Tired of running or jogging? Get a bike.

One of the main reasons for America's struggle with obesity is walking and cycling being replaced by automobiles.

Bicycling leads older adults to having a stronger heart and the confidence in being independent towards their health.

Bike riding not only helps lives but the environment too. If more people chose cycling instead of cars, air pollution would decrease and traffic congestion wouldn't be as bad.

Not only do you improve your health, but 30 minutes of bicycling can reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, and sculp your outter appearance.

Sodas: An Unhealthy Alternative

Did you know 17 gallons of sugar are in one 20-ounce can of soda?

That is more than the daily serving of sugar recommeded for a day.

It is normal to drink sodas as a part of socializing but soon this become a habit.

A few things you may want to consider about Sodas:

They are bad on teeth. They eat away the enamel covering on teeth.

People who drink sodas are more likely to have type 2 diabetes

Drinking one can of a 12-ounce soda is equivalent to gaining 15 pounds a year. If you drink 2 or three sodas a days thats 30-45 pounds within 24 hours!

To curb your soda drinking habits, try sparkling flavored water, milk, club soda, or drinks that are 100 percent juice.

But that doesn't mean it is ok to replace these drinks with water.

Too Much Water

If you haven't figured out by now, too much of anything isn't good.

That includes water too.

Something that makes up two-thirds of our bodies can actually harm us if too much is taken in.

Drinking too much water is known as water intoxication. You can die from drinking too much water but cases are very rare.

Drinking two or more gallons within 3-6 hours can put you at great risk of water intoxication.

Athletes are at the greatest risk of this incident. Reports indicate that 18-29 percent of runners who participated in the Ironman Triatholan suffered from water intoxication.

So how much do you need? It is recommended that you drink 8-12 ounces a day.

Your thirst is the best indicator on how much water to drink.

Listen to your bodies, follow your heart, and your health should balance into place.
